Job Summary
As a Senior Distribution Supervisor in our Overhead/Underground Lines Department located in our Long Island service territory you will achieve desired results through the application of PSEG core commitments and behaviors, sound management practices and skills, and a commitment to teamwork. Manage all aspects of operations on a day-to-day basis and direct team in accomplishing desired results. Assist in the development of objectives and budgets to support objectives and maintain operating expenditures within allowable variances. Ensure quality and quantity of work performed is in compliance with Company standards and procedures, safe work practices, environmental and government regulations. Oversee operations to ensure a safe work environment. Maximize system reliability by ensuring timely and effective planning and scheduling. Develop staff and bargaining unit associates to effectively meet goals and performance objectives. Ensure on-call coverage and accept call-out obligations. As an employee of PSEGLI, you should be aware that during storm/outage restoration efforts, you may be required to perform functions different from normal operations and your regular work schedule. You may also be required to work in an alternate location.
Job Responsibilities
- Supervision of Distribution Supervisors and the operation of electric overhead and underground field crews.
- Plans the construction and maintenance of all overhead and underground transmission and distribution facilities.
- Responsibilities include the coordination of internal organizations to ensure the completion of assigned projects within the scheduled timeframe and budget.
- Coordinating and meeting with external customers to avoid complaints and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Effective utilization of all assigned resources as well as the implementation and enforcement of all safety policies and work practices.
- Assessing the area resource requirements and recommending alternatives to meet any variances.
- Maintains overall responsibility for the operating area yard conditions as necessary to meet company, local and state requirements.
- On a rotating basis, may perform stand-by duties in accordance with Electric Transmission and Distribution System requirements.
- Manages more than $15 million in tools, equipment and other physical resources.
- Assists in the preparation, monitoring, and administration of the area budget, as well as of financial documents and reports.
- Perform various other functions as needed for storm/outage restoration efforts, which may require working in alternate locations.
Job Specific Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science Degree w/ 5 years of electric utility experience in the operation and maintenance of the Electric Transmission and Distribution System.
- Candidates without a degree who have a minimum of 10 years electric utility experience in the operation and maintenance of Electric Transmission and Distribution System will be considered
- Including 5 years of supervisory experience (Union workforce supervision preferred)
- Strong leadership, teamwork, and interpersonal skills including written and oral communication.
- Ability to achieve results in challenging situations.
- Strong organizational skills - ability to plan, organize, and control field operations.
- Experience and understanding of Collective Bargaining agreements.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- This position requires driving to company locations and off-site assignments and events, must possess a valid US driver’s license with a safe and satisfactory driver history.
- Compliance with the Department of Energy's regulation 10 CFR 810 is required.
Desired:
- Preference given to candidates with a thorough knowledge of the Collective Bargaining Agreement for Local Union 1049, as well as the ability to plan, organize, and control field operations.
- Preferences will be given to applicants with project management experience including cost control methods.
