Job Summary

Support the maintenance of continuous and efficient operation of all Distribution Automation (D-SCADA, Capacitor Control System and Network Monitoring) computer and communications systems during both normal and off hours (24/7 support). Monitoring the alarm logs, equipment issues, network connectivity and radio/fiber communications on a daily basis.

Managing and maintaining external system links (ICCP, MultiSpeak, PI/HIS) from OSI D-SCADA to OMS & EMS. Programming, configuring, testing and commissioning of supervisory controlled devices, equipment and communications hardware to the DA System. Design, program logic code, utilize, test, implement, and troubleshoot software programs (numerous vendor equipment programs, several communications protocol programs, and OSI D-SCADA/Concentrator programs/scripting) that will effectively and efficiently perform various control functions required by T&D operating personnel.

Responsible for maintaining the EGIS mapping model to keep it updated with the Outage Management System and OSI D-SCADA e-map. Responsible for inventory control and equipment repair handling working with the General Shops. Support the group in the integration of new technology related the deployment of new switching equipment and expansion of the OSI D-SCADA System as well as being available for all storms affecting the LIPA Distribution Territory.

Ability to respond to storm emergencies during nights and weekends as needed

Job Specific Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors of Science degree with a major program of study in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
  • A minimum of 0-2 years of relevant engineering experience
  • Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access, Power Point)
  • Must have the ability to build effective, respectful, working relationships.
  • Demonstrated collaboration and team building skills

  • Demonstrated verbal, written, interpersonal communication skills and computer skills

  • Understanding of the fundamentals of engineering

  • This position requires driving to company locations and off-site assignments and events, applicants must possess a valid US driver’s license with a safe and satisfactory driver history.
