Job Summary

This role is crucial for ensuring the company acquires the necessary resources (capital goods and services) effectively and efficiently to achieve its long-term goals and maintain its competitive advantage. It requires a blend of strategic thinking, negotiation skills, contract management expertise, and strong interpersonal skills to manage relationships with both internal teams and external vendors.

This position ensures that a well-defined, well- documented sourcing process is followed that ensures contractual expectations and objectives are met. Manages the development, negotiation and implementation of major contracts in accordance with deliberate, planned, sourcing strategies and category objectives; continues to re-source recurring contractual commitments on a as needed; manages emergent project work in support of operations; and manages key supplier relationships.

This role will manage the full lifecycle of contracts related to procurement, from initial negotiation to ensuring compliance and adherence to terms. They will also manage the procurement process, focusing on securing favorable terms, managing supplier relationships, and minimizing risks. This role combines aspects of both procurement and contract management, ensuring the company's supply chain is efficient and compliant.

Job Responsibilities

  • Negotiating and drafting contract terms with suppliers, ensuring they align with business goals and legal requirements                      
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers, addressing issues, and ensuring timely and reliable delivery                                 
  • Analyzing contracts to identify cost savings opportunities, negotiate contract terms, supplier performance, and market trends. Identifying and mitigating risks associated with contracts, including financial, legal, and supply chain risks
  • Leading end to end procurement activities including sourcing bidding and contract execution                                  
  • Ensuring compliance with company policies, legal regulations, and contract terms, and generating reports on contract performance
  • Managing the day-to-day administration of contracts, including tracking progress, handling changes, and ensuring adherence to deadlines
  • Appropriately assess contractual risk and implement risk management strategies; implement measures and methods to tie payment to performance; monitor and manage cost and change; define and manage deliverables and respective responsibilities between the Company and the contractor

Roles that include NERC CIP responsibilities:

  • Owns functional tasks on day-to-day compliance with all the NERC Standard's Requirements assigned.
  • Serves as contact for all assigned compliance activities. Coordinates the reviews and approvals as specified in Standard Requirements.
  • Ensures required policies/procedures are followed and that any local dept-level procedures encompassing the NERC Compliance Standards Requirements are up to date.
  • Provides materials for required reviews and approvals of all assigned compliance activities for submission.
  • Works with SME Mgrs and Lead SME Contributor on functional day-to-day compliance activities to ensure all are effective coordinated, sustained in the LOB. Provides updated and approved input to the Lead SME for the Reliability Standard Audit Worksheets, CIP Evidence Request Tool, O&P Evidence Tracking Sheet and for all assigned NERC Standard. Includes FERC, NERC, NPCC, LIPA, NY State, DHS.

Job Specific Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related field and a minimum of 8 years combined experience in sourcing and contract management for large Capital Procurement Projects; or in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 10 years of related experience of which 6 years are in sourcing for large Capital Procurement projects
  • Strong Negotiation Skills to effectively negotiate contracts with suppliers
  • Experience using SAP, Ariba, and e-sourcing or similar applications
  • Excellent Communication and presentation skills; Communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Understanding of projects and scheduling
  • Prior experience coordinating with cross functional stakeholders
  • Strategic Sourcing, Contract execution, Vendor Management and utility procurement expertise

 

Desired

  • Graduate degree in business or law
  • Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) or Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) certification
  • Supplier Diversity Experience and / or certification (e.g., CPSD)
  • Lean six sigma or other business process optimization experience
  • Contract Management / Construction / project management experience and / or certification (e.g., PMP)
  • Prior experience coordinating with cross functional stakeholders is preferred
