Job Summary

The Project Controls Lead – is responsible for developing and managing Training Support &Contractor Services related project budgets, forecasts and variances from planning through project closure including account closing for active Sections within the TS&CS Department. The candidate in this role will utilize their expertise to offer technical/analytical and functional support in the area of project controls. Candidate will work closely with other internal stakeholders engaged in the cost control process and assist with departmental reporting. Additionally, assist and oversee the Residential Underground Development (RUD) forecast and cost control function accounting for seasonality, unforeseen costs and builder demand. Successful candidate will ensure projected budget variances are properly tracked and maintained and will meet the cost review process. Observe and guide department leadership to ensure adherence to PSEG Policies and Procedures regarding accounting and cost tracking. The Project Controls Lead Analyst will report directly to Manager, Process & Operations.

Job Responsibilities

Include but are not limited to:

  • Implement standard cost best practice and processes to ensure budgets/variances are in accordance with Finance requirements.
  • Review Financial Reports and O&M Forecast for monthly report out.
  • Analyze forecast and plan variances monthly and provide internal teams with recommended corrective action to meet target budget.
  • Review Capital Reports/Prepare Variance Comments and Capital Projects Forecast monthly. Prepare Headcount Analysis monthly.
  • Notify management when project is going over budget and solicit corrective actions. Submit monthly Accruals.
  • Review RUD and telecom Tableau reports and scan for unusual swings in expenses. Verify totals in SAP.
  • Prepare monthly RUD Forecast Worksheet and analyze RUD Mischarged
  • Perform RUD Order Report vs Warehouse Records Variance Analysis
  • Provide RUD Graph/Scorecard Monthly report
  • Develop Yearly Budget Briefing Book and Budget Worksheets for Hyperion
  • Prepare URB Documents as needed
  • Interact with internal and external stakeholders

Job Specific Qualifications

Required: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or Construction Management and 7 years of experience in project reporting, financial reporting, cost control or budgeting.
    • In lieu of a degree a minimum of 11 years of experience in project reporting, financial reporting, cost control or budgeting.
  • Experience with ERP system (SAP preferred) or Project Management software
  • Demonstrated MS office skills (PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license and maintain a satisfactory driving record

Desired Skills:

  • Demonstrated leadership role in cost control, data management or corporate initiatives
  • Experience using Microsoft Tableau, Hyperion and ERP Systems
