Job Summary
This is a senior level data analyst position that supports data analysis for Vegetation Management. This position supports vegetation management programs through geospatial analysis, mapping, data management, and operational reporting. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining GIS datasets and ArcGIS Online applications, producing maps and compiling field data, analyzing operational and system data, and delivering actionable insights to support decision-making. This position will collaborate closely with Reliability and IT teams to identify technology and data needs, troubleshoot GIS and mobile solutions, and ensure accurate, timely delivery of mapping products, reports, and program tracking information.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead advanced geospatial analysis and mapping initiatives to support vegetation management programs, leveraging GIS tools and spatial data to identify trends, risks, and operational priorities.
- Develop, maintain, and optimize GIS datasets and ArcGIS Online applications to ensure accurate, accessible, and up-to-date spatial information for field and office users.
- Produce high-quality maps, dashboards, and visualizations; compile and validate field-collected data to support planning, execution, and tracking of vegetation management activities.
- Analyze operational and system data to generate actionable insights, improve program performance, and support data-driven decision-making.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Reliability and IT teams to define data and technology requirements, enhance geospatial capabilities, and implement scalable solutions.
- Troubleshoot and support GIS platforms, mobile data collection tools, and mapping applications to ensure system reliability and user effectiveness.
- Deliver timely and accurate reporting, including program metrics, mapping products, and performance dashboards, to support compliance, monitoring, and strategic planning.
Job Specific Qualifications
- Bachelor Degree in STEM discipline
- 5 years of experience working with large datasets and generating insights
- Experience using software systems similar to ESRI software and ArcGIS
- Ability to apply statistics to analyze trends, performance, and risk
- Understanding circuit performance metrics (e.g., reliability, outages, SAIDI/SAIFI)
- Working knowledge of Electrical distribution systems (how power flows, feeders, circuits)
- Overhead (OH) utility infrastructure (poles, lines, vegetation risk zones)
- Familiarity with remote sensing technologies (LiDAR, satellite imagery, aerial imagery)
And the ability to apply these to vegetation management and risk analysis - Exposure to Machine learning algorithms
- Experience with Predictive modeling (e.g., outage risk, vegetation growth, asset failure)
- Ability to connect data insights to operational decisions and outcomes
- Demonstrated experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, including IT, Reliability, and field operations
- Valid US driver's license
- Compliance with the Department of Energy's regulation 10 CFR 810 is required
Desired:
- Experience with data analysis and automation tools (e.g., SQL, Python, R) and data visualization platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau)
- Professional certifications such as GISP or Esri Technical Certifications (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, Enterprise)
