Job Summary
Position is responsible for conceptualizing, developing and directing the implementation of initiatives/events that demonstrate the Company’s commitment to the Long Island communities that we serve, driving recognition of PSEG Long Island as a ”valued corporate citizen”. Manager is responsible to cultivate and maintain the infrastructure and culture needed for employees to embrace individual and corporate philanthropy and build awareness and customer appreciation for our corporate citizenship mission. Position requires close coordination with Marketing and Corporate Communications to build awareness and support for outreach efforts as a means to drive improved customer satisfaction as related to JD Power Customer Satisfaction scores. Position is also accountable to work collaboratively with Corporate Communications to maximize exposure of PSEGLI outreach and volunteer events in order to increase awareness among our residential and business customers, supporting efforts to promote and grow brand awareness.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop and drive the PSEG Long Island community outreach strategy including setting employee engagement targets, identifying strategies and executing implementation plans across PSEG Long Island (PSEGLI) to support Customer Satisfaction targets as measured by J.D. Power and internal Scorecard metrics. Ensure that all established community related objectives are met efficiently and cost effectively to achieve maximum visibility in the community.
- Lead and oversee the daily activities and long term strategies of the Community Partnership Program (CPP) team related to planning, operations, budgeting, event planning, and execution. Manage all activities of various community outreach efforts needed to identify and staff appropriate events. Responsible for providing oversight, direction, training, coaching and mentoring of staff.
- Actively represent PSEG Long Island among community leaders and develop strategic community and business alliances. Work in partnership to develop/implement initiatives that serve community needs, promote corporate citizenship, and brand PSEGLI as a valued corporation to the community. Maintain and apply working knowledge of PSEGLI Standards for Business Controls and work directly with the company ethics officer to ensure that all CPP activities performed during working hours support the Company's mission as LIPA's service provider. This includes developing and enforcing policies and procedures to ensure program effectiveness and compliance.
- Manage and direct various activities that identify internal and external process improvements to continually improve the impact of community outreach efforts and results, including analysis and reporting of all participation, perception, transactional and ad-hoc reports; database management, including database maintenance, data mining, behavioral segmentation, and collaboration with Market Intelligence. Develop/maintain databases to track/report community participation to ensure accuracy and effectiveness across various community initiatives; responsible for all monthly and ad hoc reporting to monitor/track employee participation.
- Maintain server-based database and related reports of all community related information (calendar of community events, presentations, program updates, etc.) needed by employees for the successful and strategic implementation of community outreach efforts
- Serve as change agent and drive organizational culture change. Routinely meet with managers across the organization to educate and implement culture change management and customer experience initiative to foster employee engagement in community outreach efforts. Lead the development of periodic employee program survey instruments designed to identify program/process improvements, solicit employee feedback and ensure actionable improvements are implemented
- Work collaboratively with Corporate Communications to maximize exposure of PSEGLI outreach and volunteer events in order to increase awareness by our residential and business customers. Support Company branding efforts, securing appropriate promotional materials, give-a-ways and branded clothing to promote brand awareness.
Job Specific Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree plus a minimum of 8 years of community partnerships, customer service, stakeholder engagement or marketing experience. In lieu of a degree, 12 years of community partnerships, customer service, stakeholder engagement or marketing experience will be considered.
- Strong logistics and leadership skills to drive identification and scheduling of various outreach events, ranging from large "Show of Force" events to smaller, local events.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships, ability to foster ongoing communication and reporting with senior management to gain the full support needed to achieve employee engagement goals and community outreach objectives.
- Excellent leadership, strategic thinking, planning and problem solving skills
- Strong project management skills, be well organized and have ability to pay attention to detail
- Excellent oral/written communication skills
- Must demonstrate good networking and collaboration skills with strong customer focus
- Experience working with external and internal stakeholders to deliver community-level projects
- Experience in volunteering and other structured employee participation in responsible business activity
- Demonstrated experience in delivering campaigns that lead to positive improvements in the workplace, community, and company perception
- Proven experience leading cross-departmental initiatives
- Strong time management skills and a demonstrated ability to work in an independent manner

- MBA or equivalent
- Experience with event planning and ability to effectively manage multiple projects concurrently
- Knowledge of JD Power Customer Satisfaction Survey and process
- In depth knowledge/ experience working with community/business leaders and related organizations
- Knowledge of utility practices, related regulatory issues, and customer service related programs
